INTRODUCTION TO THE BLOG
San Andres island is one of the most visited places in Colombia and generally when you graduate you go there with your classmates, also it's a place for go with the family and your friend. My case is the excursion one and in this blog I'm going to describe my experience especially what I learn about the culture and the people, also the parties I went wich made of this trip a memory that I never will forget. Besides tell my experience, my intention for writting this is to make you wish to go to San Andres because this is a very beautiful and full of culture place, and I am sure that if you go there you would never forget it. I hope to comply with me purpose or at least make you have fun with my experience.
The day began with a little headache. I just opened my eyes and the light hurt me so much that I said the typical hungover words: “I would never drink again” but I knew that wasn’t true so I just shut up and woke up for eat the breakfast. The smell of the salad and the fruits punched me in the face before I entered to the restaurant, if that had been other day I’d have jump of excitement but I realize that it wasn’t the time for eat so I just kept forward to the pool and then I saw them. I was too sick for eat but them (people who were with me last night) were still drinking and dancing! I couldn’t believe it. In that moment I realize that I had to stop the party and maybe begin to learn more about the culture on the island at least for one day.

I went to my room for take a shower and then I
took an aspirin for the hangover. I dressed up with the first clean clothes
that I saw. Then I realized that I needed to have a record of everything what
happened that day because I knew that day went to be very special. So I took my
bag and put in there my camera and a notebook. As I still had the hangover I
didn’t like to walk for all over the island so I asked to the receptionist to
call a taxi. Waiting for the taxi, a friend came to me for ask me if I was
going to the pool party. I said no to him because I wanted to do something different
that day. So he just “gave me the power” and continued his path. At that moment
the taxi arrived, it whistled 3 times before saw me. I entered in the taxi and
looked the taxi driver who looked like a good person. Then I asked him to show
me the most cultural places on the island.
The first place he took me was the center of
the island because at that moment there was a carnival. The taxi driver called
Jose told me that he was going to park the car so I just down the car. I was in
shock when I saw the people dancing and singing on the street, with amazing costumes.
Jose arrived and told me that the carnival was public so we could get it in.
The experience was fantastic. Women taught me how to dance step by step and
although I didn’t can at the first, later I learned. After half hour dancing
with all the people I was very hungry so I asked to Jose if he knew some great
place for having the lunch (I didn’t have hangover any more). He told me that
he knew the perfect place, his wife’s restaurant in front of the beach.
When I entered to the restaurant the first thing
I perceived was the fish’s smell and although it was annoying at the first, I
decided to give a change to the place and taste its food. The lunch was fish
with rice and borojo juice. Everything was delicious, every single mouthful was
like glory and the juice was the most refreshing that I ever drank. Everything
was going perfect until my cellphone rang. I took the call and it was the excursion’s
director. He was really mad and he told me that I had to go with the rest of
the group at the hotel. So I say thanks to Jose for the tour and the food and
then I asked him to take me to the hotel. When I arrived I was so tired that I
fell asleep in a moment but really happy for everything that happened on that
day.
